“Even to your old age, I am He, and even to your grey hairs, I will carry you! I have made and I will bear; even I will carry and will deliver you” (Isaiah 46:4).
This verse has comforted me so much during seasons of transition- when I graduated college, when I was looking for my first job, when I got married, when I became a mom. And now, looking into that scary, unknown future, there are so many things I could let hammer me with anxiety: What if ____ tragedy happens? (insert a million terrifying scenarios.) What about our finances, what about our health scares, what if my dreams tank or my friendships die or my plans fail? But then there is this promise, spoken with confidence and love: “Even to your old age, I am He. Even to grey hairs, I will carry you.”
I don’t know one single thing about the future. It’s knowledge that belongs to God alone. But I can rest, because God goes before me and carries me there. In every stage is life, every transition, every corner I turn, He has made and He will bear. Even He will carry and will deliver me.
