When I got pregnant with my first son, I started having uncharacteristically dark fears that something terrible would happen to him. I lived in fear until God brought to mind this verse, helping me to change the pattern of thought I'd developed and replace it with truth and trust in Jesus. I realized that fear had become my go-to; I’d developed a habit of meditating on the worst case scenario. I needed to introduce a new script to my brain.

Friends: is the disaster your imagining true? Meaning, is it actually happening? Then it needs to go. Replace it with truth and trust in Christ.

Are your thoughts about your friends honorable? If not, they need to go. Replace them with kindness.

Are your meditations just, pure, lovely, commendable, excellent, praiseworthy? Take stock of your thoughts. Invite God into them, to search you, know you, and lead you in the way of everlasting.
